FACT OR FAKE: FRUITS AND VEGGIES

By Fit Body Boot Camp

It’s time we got down to the truth of things…

Well, health things, that is…

There’s so much fitness and health information online that it’s hard to tell fact from fake. We want you to know the truth, which is why we’re sharing this “Fitness Fact or Fake” article all about fruits and veggies. Are they really as healthy as everyone makes them out to be?

THE TRUTH: YES, SORT OF…

When compared to most other foods, fruits and vegetables are much, much healthier to eat. Eating a varied assortment of both will fill you up with vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants that your body needs to function.

But before you raid the produce aisle, there are a couple of things you should keep in mind. First, fruits often contain a lot of sugar. Granted, they aren’t as sugary as processed foods, but they’re still a little higher than you’d hope for. If you’re looking to curb your sugar intake, you might want to eat more veggies instead.

But let’s think about this for a second. We all get cravings, right? Fruits are a great way to satisfy your sugar cravings without over-indulging on calories or fats. Just don’t let one banana lead you down a sugary binge — savor it, then move on from the sugar for a while.

You get more bang for your buck with veggies. Just remember to follow one simple rule: The greener the veggies, the healthier they are for you. In fact, green vegetables are practically free game calorie-wise, since they count as natural calories (the good kind).

The verdict? Fruits and veggies are great for your diet. Their benefits significantly outweigh their negatives, and any healthy diet is sure to include a healthy serving of both.
